Bee is an independent photographer specialising in wildlife, nature and conservation. Her passion stems from a lifelong and profound respect for animals and a strongly-felt connection with the African savannah, wide-open spaces and the fauna that call these places home.

 

A sensitive and empathetic observer of nature, Bee focusses on portraiture of animals in their natural habitats. Her signature approach of combining natural elements with various treatment of natural light and shadow allows her to express her respect for animals through her own style, and to evoke in others a deeper inquiry into, and appreciation for, the lives of our fellow animals in their natural way of being.

 

Her commitment to being a voice for animals has seen her, from a young age, promoting animal rights at public events and committing to vegetarianism. She continues to provide support to various animal welfare organisations domestically and abroad.

 

Her advocacy work continued through a high-profile human rights campaign that she founded and drove to lobby a foreign government, which saw her working with key influencers in the human rights, legal and political spheres. She represented the campaign on all major national media outlets on television, print and radio, and attracted a groundswell of mass support from domestic and international audiences. The campaign is said to have contributed to a policy change in the field of human rights in the region. She attracted support from federal members of the Australian Parliament and a tribute was paid to her by the former Prime Minister. She continued to support another high-profile human rights case behind-the-scenes. Recently, she created a petition to ban the ivory trade in Australia and has to date collected in excess of 270,000 signatures, and drew a direct response from the then Leader of the Opposition. Shortly after, the Australian Government committed to banning the trade.

 

Originally from the corporate sector working in business development at a Fortune 50 company, she moved into the field of international development which saw her working for the United Nations at multiple country offices on poverty reduction and economic development programs in Asia and East Africa.

 

She puts to use her understanding of socioeconomic issues and her international experience to promote awareness of wildlife conservation; and through her photography, which allows her to creatively express her reverence for life and fondness of animals, she creates calls for action to protect wildlife and the natural world.

 

Bee desires a world where animals are respected as much as human lives are- free from exploitation, suffering, and unnecessary death.
